Research

My PhD and Post Doctorate work was relative to laser spectroscopy of alcaline atoms at the interface with dielectric surfaces, by means of a surface sensitive laser spectroscopy technique known as Selective Reflection spectroscopy (1990 - 1995)

During the period, 1995-2005, I focused on the surface physics of ultra thin phthalocyanine films deposited on III-V semiconductor surfaces via several techniques such as Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (HREELS), Synchrotron Radiation X-Ray Photoemission Absorption Spectroscopy (PES, NEXAFS), Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED) & Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM).

Since 2006 my research oriented towards Protein Crystallography by studying the structure of enzymes involved in genomic RNA replication and mRNAs synthesis of emerging viruses. These enzymes are most often associated through protein-protein interactions into a replication/transcription complex (RTC). The interest in these enzymes results from the fact that they are absolutely essential for viral replication: they are at the crossroad of two thematic areas namely, the design of antiviral drugs and the viral escape from antiviral innate immunity pathways.

Music

I started studying music at 1995 at the age of 30. During 8 years I played a lot of blues and jazz with various local groups. At 2003 I started playing the trombone as I really liked the sound of this instrument and I finally became a trombonist. Actually I study classical music on the trombone and in parallel I continue playing blues, funk, jazz and ethnic music with various groups.
